Throughout the year the art museum highlights a
range of different art pieces from other
museums. In doing this, MAM hopes to bring a
broader education and appreciation for the arts
from different points of view.
The educational value of this Miami-Dade museum
is priceless. Every year the museum welcomes in
school children from all over the county to
share in its educational program. Teachers,
students (from kindergarten to seniors in high
school), and the tag-along parents walk through
the museum marveling at the beauty of the
artwork on display. MAM’s educational program is
the largest in Miami-Dade County and assists
school administrators in teaching diversity to
their student bodies.
Since the opening of the Miami Art Museum in
1996; full accreditation as a non-profit
educational institute has been bestowed by the
American Accreditation of Museums. The overall

without financial woes.
The rest of the museum’s financial needs are met
by government agencies such as the State of
Florida, Department of State, Division of
Cultural Affairs and the Florida Arts Council,
and the National Endowment for the Arts; local
governing bodies also contribute as well.
Expansion projects for the

expected to finish by the end of 2009.
