Biscayne Wall Miami

China gained fame with its Great Wall of China so why canít Miami gain fame with its Biscayne Wall? The Biscayne Wall (actually consisting of skyscrapers lined down the west side of Biscayne Blvd.) has been an ongoing project of Miami for years now.

At the start of the wall is the Met 1 tower in the Central Business District

on South 300 Biscayne. Met 1 was the first building to be included in the Metropolitan Miami (a complex of five skyscrapers in the Central Business District). This 40 storey residential building was completed in 2007.

The next in line is the Wachovia Financial Center (WFC) on South 200 Biscayne in Downtown. The WFC originally opened in 1984 standing at 784 square feet. This 55 storey skyscraper is said to be seen all the way from Ft. Lauderdale on a clear day. This brings us to One Bayfront Plaza located at 100 South Biscayne Blvd. This monstrous 70 storey structure is set for completion in 1015 if all goes well.

One Bayfront Plaza will become the largest skyscraper in all of Florida if completed as planned. The fourth structure in the wall is One Biscayne Tower located along South 2 Biscayne Blvd. It is the smallest of the wall with only 39 storeys above ground. One Biscayne Tower is included in the

wall due to its close ties with the Cuban exile community.

After that we have 50 Biscayne Tower also standing proudly on North 50 Biscayne Blvd. This structure consists of 55 floors and was completed last year after two years of construction. Next up is Everglades on the Bay on North 200 Biscayne Blvd. This skyscraper is unique because it is being constructed with two twin towers. Exterior completion was finished in late 2007 showing the 49 floors of each of the towers.

Lucky number seven in the group is Freedom Square at North 600 Biscayne. This high rise will consist of 62 floors and is expecting to open its doors for business sometime in 2009. After that is Paramount Park at North 700 Biscayne. When completed, this skyscraper is expected to have 68 storeys and become one of the top 10 highest buildings in Miami.

Number eight of the wall is Marinablue at North 800 Biscayne. This building stands an impressive 57 floors high and was completed in 2007 by the same architects as the Bank of America building (Arquitectonica). The last three skyscrapers completing the wall are 900 Biscayne Bay, Ten Museum Park, and the Marquis Miami in that order. All three complexes were finished in 2007 with the Marquis Miami not being available for opening until late 2008.
